The U.S. Bishops issued a firm response this evening to the White House’s proposed “accommodation” to the HHS contraception mandate: “Rescission as the only complete solution.” The mission of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops remains unchanged: The president “has decided to retain HHS’s nationwide mandate of insurance coverage of sterilization and contraception, including some abortifacients,” the conference statement notes.
