Image The NJ AOH bi-annual convention was held on June 8th & 9th at PJ Ryan's Pub in Jersey City. This event was a huge success thanks in large part to the efforts of the Convention Committee headed by Mike Hagan (Cape May Div 2). Mike Ryan and the hard working staff of PJ Ryan's are also deserving of recognition for their efforts to support the convention.

The convention opened on Friday afternoon with nominations and informative meetings.  Friday ended with a Pub Crawl that brought together Brothers from around the state to share in Friendship & Unity as in our motto.

Saturday followed with more informative meetings and the elections of officers.  The newly elected officers are Jere Cole; President, Joe Cobb; Vice President, Jack Nosti; Treasurer, and Bill Young; Secretary. The Jersey City Cultural Affairs Dept was very helpful with the event and even organized a trip to Ellis Island for the Families of the AOH members who came to the convention.

The convention ended with a spectacular dinner cruise around Manhattan. As the boat was parked in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, the State Board honored several supporters of the AOH as well as members who have worked hard in support of the AOH and the State Board.

Jersey City Mayor, Jerramiah Healey and a member of Hudson #1 was awarded with the State Board's Hibernian of the Year award.  John Keane (Monmouth 16) was presented with the Joe Sullivan Award.  Sean Pender (Mercer 1) received the Patrick Torphy award for his work in the advancement and aid of the Irish. The Hospitality award was presented to Michael Ryan of PJ Ryan's Pub.  The members of the Hudson County division received the Host City Award. And finally the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Thomas Corcoran of Essex 3.
