Dear Brothers:

First, I would like to thank all who attended the State Board 94th Biennial Convention in Jersey City at P. J. Ryans Pub on June 8 & 9, 2007.  It was a great time.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for electing me your President and I look forward serving as Your State President. I wish to say “THANK YOU” to our new past State President for all his hard work in the past years and wish him well in the coming years.

The Convention Committee deserves our thanks for all their hard work putting together a great meeting and the Hudson River dinner cruise.  Everyone had a great time.

During the convention, the following members were honored for their dedication to the New Jersey State Board & A.O.H.

Mayor Jerramiah Healy of Jersey City, a member of Fr. Mychael Judge Division # 1 Hudson County was honored as the 2007 Hibernian of the Year.

Bernie Snyder of Division # 4 Ocean County was awarded with our “Michael Curtin Award”.

John Keane of Division #16 Monmouth County was awarded with our “Joseph Sullivan Award”.

Sean Ender of Division #1 Mercer County was awarded with our “Patrick Torphy Award”

Michael Ryan of Division # 9 Essex County & owner of  P.J. Ryans was awarded our ” 2007 Hospitality Award “

Past State President Thomas Corcoran of Division # 3 Essex County was awarded the “Life Time Achievement Award”.

Now is the time to get down to the business of the New Jersey State Board. I am enclosing a schedule of meetings for the up-coming year.  We all have been a little lax in attending State Board meetings in the past and I hope I can count on each Division President to attend as many meetings as possible.   If   you are unable to attend please make arrangements to have another officer from your division in attendance.

There has been some discussion about the November Remembrance Mass of the Great Hunger and the lost Hibernians of the A.O.H. on 9/11. We have had a low turn out from our division’s throughout the state on this Mass. I am enclosing an information form which will help us to make a determination as to the scheduling of this Mass.  Please keep in mind that your immediate response will be greatly appreciated as we are relying on your participation.

Jere E. Cole, Jr.
State President
